We are very passionate about supporting local organizations in our George community.
Some of our favorite outreaches derive from our Children’s church ministry. Our three main outreaches are to Mickey Mouse crèche in Oudtshoorn, Milestone learning program at Bethesda Care center and the George Hospital Paediatric ward.
Mickey Mouse crèche is the main recipient of our annual Love-in-a-box project, where each child is gifted an individualized gift box by a congregation member. These boxes are filled with delightful toys, new outfits, and some basic stationery for their new school year. We also aid them through our annual stationery drive which provides the school with some much-needed essentials.
Milestones development program is an integral part of Bethesda Care Centre. The program provides educational development, and speech and occupational therapy and is worked out by a myriad of therapists and qualified education professionals. The children’s church and a local non-profit HOP (Help Our Pre-schoolers) assist the teachers once a week to provide a theme-appropriate lesson to the little ones. They are also the newest addition to our Love-in-A- Box project.
Our local hospital has an amazing staff of pediatric doctors, nurses, and care workers. They provide essential medical care and go above and beyond for their patients. We try to assist by providing some play and recreation for little ones in the day and social ward on a weekly basis.
